School Resource Officer

A School Resource Officer, also known as an SRO, is a fully sworn police officer who is assigned to work in the school district, where he or she fulfills four primary roles:

  • Actively participate in presenting instruction on various police and law-related topics
  • Provide information and assistance to students and school staff
  • Provide services to the schools and the surrounding neighborhood using the philosophy of “Community Oriented Policing”
  • Serve as a visual deterrent to crime in and around our schools

The following as a whole benefit from this program:

  • Community
  • Parents
  • School Administrators
  • Students
  • Teachers

Safe & Secure School Environment

Through this partnership, a concerted effort is made toward keeping a safe and secure school environment for our children. The SRO program is just one of the many ways that we strive to make the Franklin Regional School District safe for all who attend, work at or visit.

The SRO interacts with students from the elementary level to high school.
