Mailbox Damage During Snow Removal

Mailboxes & Snow Removal

Each year, the Murrysville Public Works Department schedules a preliminary run of all Snow Routes to identify obstacles and areas of concern for truck drivers. This allows the truck drivers to identify problems that stand in the way of the snow removal.

Mailbox Damage

The Murrysville Public Works Department repairs or replaces mailboxes and/or posts that have actually been struck by the plow blade per the adopted 2016 to 2017 Snow and Ice Control Plan. Usually, a paint mark or truck tire tracks will supply evidence of a mailbox strike.

The Murrysville Public Works Department does not repair or replace mailboxes and/or posts that have fallen from the force of plowed snow.

Mailboxes and supporting posts must be installed to withstand the rigors of snow removal, including the force of snow pushed from the street onto the roadside.

Contact

Please contact the Murrysville Public Works Department at 724-327-2100, ext. 314 to report a plow-damaged mailbox. A Public Works representative will investigate.
